Quiet unpretentious beauty, the essence of Japanese aesthetics, is also an endearing quality of the American Southwest. Touching Stone Gallery shows museum-quality traditional Japanese pottery, contemporary Japanese ceramics, and sumi-e paintings that epitomize this aesthetic sensitivity. We select artists whose works are rooted in traditions and driven by ideas. Through monthly exhibitions, we showcase new works of outstanding ceramic artists from major pottery centers in Japan. All the exhibits in our gallery are viewable online, offering a useful resource for enthusiasts of Japanese pottery and ceramics world-wide. Touching Stone Gallery is also committed to promote contemporary sumi-e painting. In addition to regular exhibitions, we sponsor lectures and workshops in collaboration with museums, educational institutions through the Santa Fe-Japan Art & Culture Exchange Program (JACEP).
