Jonathan Cross Jonathan Cross (b.1981) started his career as a printmaker for Gemini G.E.L., working with great artists like Richard Serra, from whom he drew inspirations. There is power in the raw simplicity in Cross’ ceramic sculptures. Using minimalist forms with direct, forceful and purposeful lines, he sculpts clay into powerful sculptures with such visual impact that they seem to command as much attention as large monuments. He turns artistic concepts into elegant forms using a wide variety of techniques, including wood- and salt-firing, sand blasting, polishing, and painting. Most important, much of these techniques become largely invisible in the final products, as his works remain uncluttered and natural.
